 ‘It Dawned On Me’ is the opening track of new signings CALLA’s forthcoming album ‘Collisons’, (released February 2006), and an appropriate introduction to the dark, mysterious world CALLA inhabits. Indicative of their work, ‘It Dawned On Me’ is a rock song, but one that beneath the infectious psychedelic guitar riff, has a hauntingly slow and measured quality where minimal arrangements compliment frontman Aurelio Valle’s foreboding, softly husked vocals. It’s ambience over noise, atmospherics not over –kill. It’s a slow seduction that lures you in and refuses to let you leave….not that you’d want to.
B-side Contras Los Vampiros is an achingly beautiful acoustic track where the lyrics are whispered over seductively aching guitars, while ‘Rusted Dusk’ is an intoxicatingly paced version of ‘It Dawned On Me’. Slowed down so all that is foreboding, hypnotic and captivating unravels before you.
‘It Dawned On Me’ is released on Monday 21st November, preceding the stunning new album ‘Collisons’ which will follow in February 2006.
