Luna release their new album, entitled ‘Romantica’, on Monday the 10th of June 2002.

The band’s sixth studio album, ‘Romantica’ is as beautiful a piece a work as one would expect from Dean Wareham’s creators of glorious melodic guitar pop. ‘Romantica’ is a collection of 12 songs, valiantly exploring the finer points of stars and Asian food, astronauts and black champagne, Swedish fish, disco light, the sandman and (above all) love.

The album was produced by Luna and dB’s stalwart Gene Holder at Jolly Roger Recordings in Hoboken, NJ. The infamous Dave Fridmann mixed ‘Romantica’ at his own Tarbox Road Studio in upstate New York.

Long known for their critically acclaimed and compelling albums Luna without a doubt are also one of the more engrossing and poignant bands to see live.

Luna Live! CD is culled from three separate shows, one at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C., December 10, 1999 (one of Justin Harwood's final shows with the band, it was recorded to 24 tracks by a mobile recording studio), and the other two at New Yorkês Knitting Factory, July 14 and 15, 2000. The Knitting Factory shows were recorded directly to 16 tracks in their basement studio.

Wareham states, "People have always told me we need to capture some of the live energy of the band. This is really the only way to do it -- have a few drinks and record the live show in front of a real audience."

The album is licensed from The Arena Rock Recording Co. in the U.S. and released by Beggars Banquet in the UK 5 March 2001.
