- With the acclaim being given to Mercury Rev's new album, Deserter's Songs (unfortunately Beggars haven't released that one!), it's worth checking out their earlier releases. There are still copies left of some of the singles which include non-album tracks
-
- Originally the band were
-
- David Baker
- Johnathan Donahue
- Grasshopper
- David Fridmann
- Jimy Chambers
- Suzanne Thorpe
-
- In addition to the Rev catalogue, Beggars have released solo projects from David Baker (Shady) and a new album by Grasshopper and The Golden Crickets (see the links below). Dave Fridmann also produced the albums by Radial Spangle

YERSELF IS STEAM----

- - Chasing A Bee
- - Syringe Mouth
- - Coney Island Cyclone
- - Blue and Black
- - Sweet Oddysee of A Cancer Cell t' The Center Of Yer Heart
- - Fritting
- - Countinuous Trucks and
Thunder Under a Mother's Smile
- - Very Sleepy Rivers
-
- Three years in the making, Yerself..' still sounds great today despite the obviously constrained production, confounding the suspicion that much of it's initial impact was due to shock at such unabashed acts of savagery upon the humble pop song. 'Frittering' and 'Chasing a Bee' remain highlights of the current live set; 'Sweet Oddysee of A Cancer Cell t' The Center Of Yer Heart'

- NOTE: This album has reverted to Jungle Records and is NOT available through Alma Road Mail Order. (but the others are)

BOCES----

- - Meth Of A Rockette's Kick
- - Trickle Down
- - Bronx Cheer
- - Boys Peel Out
- - Downs Are Feminine Balloons
- - Something For Joey
- - Snorry Mouth
- - Hi-Speed Boats
- - Continuous Drunks and Blunders
- - Girlfren
-
- The Rev In Extremis. Likened by Jonathan Donahue to "your rebellious second kid who doesn't pay attention to one word you say and is always in trouble", 'Boces' is overplayed, overblown and underhand. A collection of glorious melodies searching vainly for some songs, according to Grasshopper it features "tones that only dogs can hear" and "a lot of weird things in the studio that haven't been done since". Be afraid.

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE

- - Empire State
- - Young Mans Stride
- - Sudden Ray of Hope
- - Everlasting Arm
- - Racing the Tide
- - Close Encounters of the 3rd Grade
- - A Kiss From an Old Flame
- - Peaceful Night
-
-
-
- The Bakes is gone and he's quickly forgotten. So unambiguously lovely are songs like 'A Kiss From An Old Flame' and 'Racing The Tide' it's amazing the Rev accomodated their former singer's disruptive impulses for so long. Featuring much sharper arrangements, with brass and woodwind to the fore, some tracks still meander a little too wantonly for their own good. A huge step forward nonetheless.
