They sound like a bunch of sick fucks alright, but somehow there's a method to the madness within this, Penthouse's second album.

Penthouse are the sound of Elvis shitting out lumps of hot lava before dying. Messy but quite spectacular.

 Blast Off! Prepared to be lifted from that listless, soulless life you lead. Repent and rejoice, Penthouse are set to deliver the juice. Some more of their subterranean sick blues is coming your way in the becoming form of their second long player. Endearingly titled ‘My Idle Hands’ said record includes thirteen self-penned beauties, and is served up by Beggars Banquet.

Penthouse have spent the better part of the last year terrorising studio engineers with their unique vision of punk blues. It fell upon one man to bear the brunt of their sonic assault. Enter Teo Miller, record producer of some repute. Recording was interrupted by some dancefloor shenanigans. Lo-Fidelity All Stars took a sledgehammer to a Penthouse track and in return Charlie Finke, mainman with the ‘house is to sing with them. Kriss Needs remixed them and delivered the results to the baying masses at the Prodigy tour.

Under their alternative guise of ‘Fifty Tons of Black Terror’ the band have done much to the folks of the redneck lands of the deep south. Rich white boys with jeeps did not understand their homage to the authentic rock and roll noise. Still them and their soul brothers Groop Dogdrill took the opportunity to charge their credit cards and recharge their wardrobes.

Note of Enlightenment: In Europe this band are called PENTHOUSE. However, there is evidently a gentleman's magazine of the same name who object to the band using that name in the USA. Consequently, in North America the band shall be known as FIFTY TONS OF BLACK TERROR.

What's in a name ? Vowels, consonants, throwbacks to Romano-Celtic semantics ? According to Bob Guccioni, a fuck of a lot more - hence the band "formerly known as" Penthouse have been experiencing the chagrin of the multi-annuated US wank mag tycoon for some time time now. Seems Bob doesn't care much for a fucked-up rock'n'roll band using the same handle as his flagship Kleenex interface - seems that fact said crucial combo's debut LP splatterfest was called "Gutter Erotica" bothers Bob even more, as his product is clearly neither filthy nor remotely erotic. Shame. Luckily Penthouse (the band) have filth, sex and inspiring rock'n'roll music in abundance.

In fact, Penthouse are the last great rock'n'roll band as anyone who's heard the records or seen the shows will testify. So bin that shit and embrace Penthouse - infinitely more alluring than reading in bed ...
