iLiKETRAiNS debut release for Beggars
Spencer Perceval

iLiKETRAiNS welcome in 2007 with a spectacular nine and half minute release, reciting the story of the only successful assassination of a British Prime Minister, 'Spencer Perceval', in 1812. The song is written from the perspective of murderer John Bellingham whilst the accompanying track, 'I am Murdered', is sung from that of Spencer himself. Both tracks were produced by the band late 2006 in the first recording session for their forthcoming debut album. 'Spencer Perceval' is a colossal and beautiful piece of music, setting out the stall for this strangely unique band in the year to come.

The Leeds five piece arrived in 2006 with their powerful tales of morose events from bygone days, murder and misfortune. The stories told by iLiKETRAiNS are set to carefully structured, adorning melodies with instrumental patterns capable of creating an incredible range of emotions. Historical misadventure, death and the subtle paths that lead to it and which are created by it, are subject matters they have made their own. Their spine tingling songs have no intention to compete with pop's ambitions and have hence won them glowing press reviews and a dedicated following from across the continent. Last year their explosive live shows - dressed in British rail uniforms with projected films and loyal audiences - helped spread the word further.

The release of their previous recordings as a mini-album, 'Progress Reform', on Fierce Panda, was warmly welcomed at Radio One, XFM and 6Music in 2006, selling thousands of copies throughout Europe. They take their British eccentricities to America for the first time this year with the US release of 'Progress Reform' and shows at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
